It looks like it’s going to be HOT for the first part of this week, so the PTO is starting up the Ice Brigade again! The district provides bottles of water for our kids, but the water is room temperature, so we set up coolers of ice for the bottled water to make it a little more refreshing.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Send in a cooler so we can make sure there is cold water within easy reach for each hallway. If we get enough coolers, Mandy, our Ice Brigadier General, will send out a message that no more are needed. Be sure to label your cooler with your name so we can get it back to you.
2. Super Mandy can always use extra hands in the mornings to help fill the coolers with ice or dump the water out from the previous day. If you have time any morning, please send a message to Mandy or leave a comment on this post so she can coordinate volunteers for each day.
3. The PTO covers the cost of the ice, and we’re always accepting donations of money to help with purchasing bags of ice each day. Donations can be placed in the PTO mailbox in the school office (checks made out to Columbus Gifted Academy PTO), or you can also donate online using Paypal. To donate online, look for “Donate to CGA’S PTO using Paypal” on the right side of this page. Be sure to add a note to your payment to indicate the money is for Ice Brigade.
Remind your scholars to dress in lightweight/cool clothing to help beat the heat. Another good idea is to fill a reusable water bottle 1/3-1/2 full tonight, freeze it, then fill the remainder with water tomorrow morning. The ice will melt slowly and additional water can be added as needed throughout the day.
Stay cool, CGA!
