Unpacking Help Needed! – August 21, 2017
It’s almost time for school to start, but our CGA teachers need some help! Teachers will be unpacking their boxes and setting up their rooms on Monday, August 21st, from 9am to 3:30pm. Some of our teachers have requested volunteers to help them unpack so they can have their rooms ready on time. If you have any time to lend a hand with unpacking and setting up classrooms on August 21st, please sign up for which hours of the day you can commit to be at the school. (This is the only day help is needed, and there are no limits to how many people can sign up for each time.) Tasks will include unpacking classroom supplies, organizing materials, unpacking and shelving books, moving furniture, preparing bulletin boards, and more. We’re still gathering the specific help requests from teachers, so we’ll match up volunteers with available tasks that day. Optional: While we expect teachers and volunteers to take lunch breaks as needed, it would be nice to have some snacks on hand to keep everyone’s energy up as we work. If you’d like to bring some snacks in to share, please sign up for one of the snack slots.
School Spruce Up – August 6, 2017
Welcome back to another great year at CGA! We will be holding our annual Spruce Up Day on Sunday, August 6, starting at 10:00am at our NEW BUILDING – the former Everett Middle School, now the Columbus Gifted Academy!
Please plan to stop by for the event and, if you’re able, please bring shovels, gloves, rakes, pooper-scoopers, gas-powered weed eaters/trimmers, or other gardening tools if you have them. The school and PTO will provide trash bags.
Tasks will all be outdoors and will include trash clean-up, weeding, field clean-up (pooper-scoopers needed here!), raking, and planting. Due to the current state of renovations in the building, it will not be possible for families to go inside the school at this time, as it is still an active construction zone.
No formal signups are necessary, just come on down between 10am-1pm to lend a hand. As a bonus, families who attend that day will get their scholar’s classroom assignment!
Note: out of respect for families’ confidentiality, classroom assignments cannot be shared with parents of other scholars. Families who are unable to attend Spruce Up Day may call the school office beginning after noon on August 7th to find out their child’s classroom teacher.
